Photographing waves is one of my favorite subject matters. Often I am asked "how do you get these photos?". My usual reply is you just put yourself in a position that you feel that you will get the worst beating and push the button. Recently after a near death experience. Where I was out in one of the largest swells of the year and a wave stripped both of my fins from my feet and broke both of my fin leashes from my ankles. I was left in the impact zone a mere 5 feet away from large rocks at this beach. And to top it off the next wave ripped the camera from my hands and wrapped the leash around my legs. After untangling my legs and by the grace of God making it back to shore. I have decided to revise my statement to say you must put your self in a location that could knock you out of your fins and push the button. New fins and I'm back out again!!
